What is the BBQ in Red Shoes?

The BBQ in Red Shoes is a charity cook-off event hosted by the Construction Leadership Council and the Associated General Contractors of Middle TN benefiting the Ronald McDonald House of Nashville. We are not a sanctioned event, but we do base our rules off of the most current Kansas City BBQ Society rules and regulations.

Our first cook-off was in 2010 and since then we have raised over $200,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Nashville.

Our History

In 2009, the Construction Leadership Council of Middle Tennessee (CLC) was just emerging and was looking to support a charity with an annual cook-off style event. They created a committee and interviewed several charities. The Ronald McDonald House of Nashville was chosen for their mission, community impact, and dedicated long-term staff members. In 2010, the first BBQ in Red Shoes was hosted at Greer Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Regardless of the flooding rains, teams kept their grills going and managed to donate $1,500 in their first year. After Greer Stadium closed in 2014, the event landed at Nissan Stadium from 2015-2021. In 2022, talks about expanding Nissan Stadium began and the event committee felt it was time to prepare for a move. The chairman of the 2022 BBQ in Red Shoes committee was also a driver and helped us secure a new home at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. In 2024, over 1,600 people participated in the event at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway! We look forward to the next 15 years of "Grilllin for the Children"!

Our Mission

While it costs around $85 a night to house a family, the House only requests $15 per night from families to rent their room but will not turn away a family who cannot pay. The mission of the BBQ in Red Shoes is to help cover annual operational costs for the House so they can continue fulfilling their mission to keep families close.
